What
is the cost of the service?
The ILAP charges no fees for its services.
Will my identity be reported to my partners,
employer, the courts or a disciplinary committee?
Absolutely not.
Does an attorney have to leave practice to
undergo counseling and treatment?
The ILAP director recognizes that every situation is different, and
works with each individual to explore options that work best in a particular
situation.
Does the person who takes the calls understand
how drinking can escalate under the pressures of a busy practice?
Hugh Grady, director, is a recovering alcoholic and drug addict. He
credits a similar program, the Oregon Attorneys Assistance Program,
with saving his life. (Hugh describes his experience in detail on the
ILAP Web site see Hugh's Story.)
An accredited drug and alcohol counselor, Hugh has a broad perspective
on alcoholism, drug addiction, depression and the other stresses of
the practice of law.
